The Incredible Hulk has come a long way from his first appearance in Marvel comics. With time both his looks and his powers have been constantly altered and upgraded. Many of us are used to cinematic versions of the Hulk, where his power level is kept rather low, to make it look realistic and relatable, but some of the comic books present us with versions with strength beyond logic or imagination. So let’s have a look at some of the strongest Hulk incarnations out there.
10. Mindless Hulk
We’re starting off with a violent and unpredictable Hulk, who is much stronger than the Savage Hulk. Any part of Bruce Banner is lost, along with his intelligence and restraint, making this version impossible to reason with. Everyone’s familiar with Hulk’s tendency of destruction, but Mindless Hulk takes it up a notch and wreaks havoc on both his enemies and friends standing in his way.
9. Indestructible Hulk
Indestructible Hulk was the name of the Jolly Green Giant’s 2013 ongoing series. Unlike the version above, Bruce Banner is very much in touch with his inner Gamma friend. He finally accepts coexistence with the Hulk, consequently wanting to use his powers for good, as well as becoming an ally of the S.H.I.E.L.D.
This incarnation was able to withstand the weight of a star and singlehandedly shatter the Time Barrier, thus earning him a place among the strongest Hulk versions.
Have you ever wondered how a future, elder Hulk could look like? This counterpart from Earth-9200 more or less provides you with an answer.
After a nuclear war had killed almost every human being on the planet (most of the superhumans included), the not-so-Jolly Green Giant is lucky enough to survive this incident. Going by the name Maestro, he possessed great intelligence and enhanced powers that allowed him to easily kill any remaining heroes or villains that dared to stand in his way.
Fun fact: Maestro actually has a trophy room, in which he keeps souvenirs that used to belong to his victims.
7. Immortal Hulk
Amadeus Cho had a long run as the Totally Awesome Hulk, but in 2018 Marvel decided to give the crown back the original one, Bruce Banner, who comes back from the dead as the Immortal Hulk. After his resurrection, the new and improved Banner easily destroyed Red Hulk, broke Nova’s spine and was even capable of hurting the Challenger. Aside from immortality and an insane level of strength, the Immortal Hulk is also able to drain and absorb Gamma from his opponents, making himself much stronger.
6. War Hulk
One of the first mutants to grace the Earth, Apocalypse, gifted the Hulk with celestial technology that allowed the green monster to reach his full potential at will, as he no longer needed his anger to fuel his power. One instance of how incredible this Hulk really was is his encounter with the Juggernaut, said to be unstoppable when he builds up momentum. The green monster proves everybody wrong, as he stops Cain Marko with his bare hands and sends him flying with a punch.
There’s an on-going debate between fans on which character is stronger – Hulk or Thor.
Despite the answer being inconclusive, this incarnation gives us a cool new angle on who could take the victory. After Bruce Banner changed into the Hulk, the Jolly Green Giant picked up a hammer called the Hammer of Nul. The newly acquired weapon enhanced his powers drastically, resulting in Thor’s punches having little effect on the Giant. Nul Hulk also took on entire hordes of Dracula’s monsters and even effortlessly ripped an Adamantium net.
4. World War Hulk
After the events of Planet Hulk, Bruce Banner comes back to Earth with more vengeance and rage inside of him than ever before. World War Hulk is basically a much, much stronger version of the regular one, with Bruce Banner’s intellect helping him out. He wages war against the entire Earth, in the process savagely destroying Skrull Black Bolt, smashing Iron Man’s most indestructible Hulkbuster armor, defeating X-Men members and taking out The Thing and She-Hulk with a single punch. Even fully powered Sentry, Earth’s last hope, wasn’t able to defeat the Green Giant, since the fight ended in stalemate. There’s no doubt that this version is one of the strongest Hulks out there.
3. World Breaker Hulk
If you think the one above is a force to be reckoned with, then you will definitely like this one. World Breaker Hulk is pretty much World War Hulk who cut loose completely. Right after the amazing fight with Sentry, the comic book shows us Hulk with his powers at full extent. When he tried to walk, he almost destroyed the whole Eastern Seaboard with a single step. Later on in the comics, the World Breaker Hulk managed to live up to his name in quite literal sense, since he did destroy a planet in the Dark Dimension when he punched Red She-Hulk.
This one is a doozy. In the first volume of Captain Universe, the Jolly Green Giant temporarily gained the Uni-Power. Now, what is the Uni-Power and why did it earn him such a high place in our list? In theory, it can grant Hulk with flight, energy manipulation and it would multiply his strength to a ridiculous level. However, in reality Uni-Hulk didn’t have any impressive feats, which is why it’s hard to say how powerful he really was. That is why he didn’t achieve the title of the strongest Hulk in comics.
1. Space Punisher Hulk
This is how we’ve reached the top place on the list and this version is indeed worthy of it. Space Punisher Hulk comes from an alternate universe and his appearance is much different from the other versions, since he’s bald and has four arms. His feats include some impressive moments, like ripping Deadpool’s head apart, biting Sabretooth in half and strangling Doc Samson with his own hair. Those, however, are not that impressive on a Hulk scale, but there is one accomplishment Space Punisher Hulk has that earns him the number one spot, as the strongest Hulk out there. At some point in the comics, the not-so-Jolly Green Giant managed to brutally and easily murder six Watchers, who are much stronger than the ones from Earth-616 and each of them is as powerful as Galactus. Hulk killed three of them right off the bat and then proceeded to strangle the remaining three all at once with his arms.
